In early spring our fields are full of henbit, this small purple wildflower. I think most think it's a weed, and a nuisance, but I kind of enjoy it's beauty. These aren't our fields, but a neighbors. Posted by Picasa

Last Thursday Dad and I worked int he vineyard together. This is rare, because there is so much to do, we are rarely in the same place at the same time. I drove the tractor, he held the posts we cut from the woods. This is the beginning of the trellis. It was a good day, we got a lot done, and the weather was chilly, but pleasant. Posted by Picasa

This is a picture taken last fall by my friend who I call Phil Philter. ;) That's his camera I'm holding. The picture gives a good view of the vineyard in autumn. We use the pomace for erosion control, you can see it on the road behind me. Posted by Picasa

This is what our vineyard looks like. This is our "Mother Row" area of the vineyard, a little bit of this, a little bit of that. It's at the top of our hill, so we can give the vareties that we are thinking about growing the best shot they got. Posted by Picasa

Spring Time Duties

Thought I'd start this blog on the unofficial day of spring here in Ste. Genevieve. It seems close to 80 degrees today. This weather is crazy, but makes me full of energy. There is much going on today, mostly in the vineyard. We are setting posts, finishing pruning the more tender varieties like our precious Muscat Canelli, and lots and lots of plowing to ready the ground for new plantings.

Pictures to come soon.

Welcome.
